Robotic surgery

Robotic surgery is an innovative and best method of recent years in medicine. This is a very effective method when surgeons use very small instruments and a miniature camera that enters the body through small punctures. It provides a wider range of motion and greater precision than human hands. The common information that an autonomous robot performs an operation is incorrect. All movements are controlled by the surgeon, who sits on the console and watches the process of operations on the screen. Therefore, the skills and experience of the surgeon are critical to the results.

Benefits of robotic surgery:

  • Accuracy that eliminates the physiological tremor of the human hand;
  • 3D vision system provides high quality visualization of the surgical field;
  • Gives the chance to work in hard-to-reach, small and narrow areas;
  • Minimal scarring, less blood loss, less pain and an earlier return to normal life.

A member of our medical board of directors is the head of the clinics for general, visceral, minimally invasive and robotic surgery at the academic basic clinics of Walheim and Schongau of the University of Munich (TUM), honorary doctor of the Tbilisi State Medical University, professor, doctor of medicine - Reinhold Lang.

In 2004, Prof. Reinhold Lang was awarded the CAES Poster Award for Surgical Endoscopy and Sonography. From the German Society for Coloproctology, Professor Lang received the Jens Kirsch Prize for his scientific work. He is one of the pioneers in Europe in the development of robotic surgery. He has 20 years of experience in training courses run by various academies. Especially it should be noted his 10-year contribution to the education of about 150 Georgian students in the framework of the program named after. Prof. Nodar Grigolia and close cooperation with the universities of Georgia.
